Transforming an Old European Cut Diamond Heriloom Ring to Traci Engagement Ring

An Old European Cut Diamond Ring into an Engagement Ring Anne’s Heirloom Ring
Ann had a beautiful Old European Cut diamond set in a family heriloom ring. She wanted to take the diamond and set it in a custom made engagement ring that would be suitable for Traci. The family heirloom ring had a very classic and quiet look. Images of Traci showed me a very lively, strong and stylish person. To me, she looked like "sunshine"! I suggested to put radiant cut yellow diamonds on either side of the OEC and make the band ever-so-slightly wide. The yellow diamonds would reflect Traci's liveliness and the radiant cut shape versus a round shape would represent her strength. Since she looked stylish, I didn't want a simple band, so I made little square designs on the band, that would refine it and match nicely with the square/rectangular shape of the radiant cut diamonds. I call the square designs "chocolates"!

The above image shows the little "chocolate" squares going towards the radiant cut fancy orangey yellow diamonds and ending in a "v" shape that matches the top of the prongs on the center diamond. When I was searching for a suitable pair of yellow diamonds, this pair of rare fancy orangey yellow randiant cuts immediately caught my eye. I love how they are so intense and vibrant, yet small in comparison to the center OEC. They don't take away from it, but complement the beauty and uniqueness of the of this gorgeous 2.49 carat old european cut diamond.

I made the ring in multiple pieces. 18k Yellow gold for the fancy radiant cuts, platinum for the center stone and the band. It took me sometime to finish this ring, but Anne was incredibly patient and she graciously waited until I finally gave it to her! I absolutely love this ring, it's so interesting and elegant! I can't wait to find out what Traci thinks when she gets it! Thank you Anne, for giving me the opportunity to make Traci's ring. I absolutely enjoyed it!!
