From the time that I started thinking on how to make Alison's engagement ring to the time that I actually made it, this ring went through many transformations! I wanted something very innovative, clean, sharp, interesting and elegant!
It all started when Alison's fiancé to-be, called to inquire about a custom made engagement ring with a princess cut diamond. For the appointment, I brought in a few princess cut diamonds to choose from and Casey showed me a few images of Alison, so I can better understand what would be a suitable style of ring. Once Casey chose the diamond, which is a gorgeous 0.71 carat, F color, SI3 clarity with EGL certificate, I started thinking of a design that would be perfect for Alison. I sketched and re-sketched and finally when I started making it, I completely changed it! I wanted a ring that has a lot of movement but in an orderly manner!!
I made the basket of the center diamond, ever-so-slightly coming out of the perimeter of the princess cut diamond so it gives the illusion of a bright halo and frame. Then I made a bridge that would have round brilliant cut diamonds set in individual square settings to match the square shape of the center diamond. I then created a frame for the diamond bridge with the edges of the band that rise up and hold the diamond.

I made Alison's ring in several pieces in order to have perfect polish all over the ring and have the diamonds going underneath the princess cut diamond.
I absolutely love Alison's ring and I absolutely enjoyed making it. What made it easy for me to be so creative was Casey's trust in me. Casey is absolutely a delightful young man and I'm very happy that I was able to make this engagement ring for his beautiful and stylish Alison.
