From Boston To Georgia With Love - Andi Floral Inspired Engagement Ring

Ty, Andi, and her ring A man and a woman meet--there is a beginning. Time passes with learning and laughter and love, and the man begins to look for the perfect ring. That starts with a meeting too. When Ty walked into my office to find for a ring for Andi, I was struck, as she must have been, by his refined and respectful nature. He showed me their ideas and told me about her likes and dislikes, learned over their time together. He smiled as he told of the qualities and quirks that made hers the heart and the hand for him. Ty wanted Andi's individuality reflected in a unique ring with an exceptional stone. The hand carved ring I made for Sophia, with its delicate flower petals, had the rawness and organic feel that Ty was looking for. The natural design leaps out like a laugh and flows like water. Then, like all first meetings, ours had to end, Ty had to return home, to Georgia, and we had to continue our process over phone and email. Diamonds over distance can be difficult, but I was going to make his experience no different from a local client. I knew from the picture of her lovely hand that a round brilliant cut would be perfect for Andi. I found three diamonds for Ty to consider, and he was drawn to two: a round, beautiful brilliant cut, and a larger, 88 cut, which has 8 sides and 88 facets versus the regular 57 facets that a round brilliant cut has. Because of the extra faceting, the 88 cut has incredible fire and luster. In the flashing light of the morning sun, I took an image of all three diamonds side by side for comparison. Then, I took an image of each diamond putting the camera on a 10 times magnification loop so he could see right through the heart of each stone, just as if he were standing in my office with me. Ty was torn. Which one was Andi's? Over the years of making jewelry that celebrates and embodies love, I have learned that often in these moments, Fate decides to join in the design process. In this case, it sent Andrea right through the door while I was speaking with Ty on the phone. Ty was delighted to hear another opinion, so I showed the diamonds to Andrea and which one would be her choice. Stunned by its fire and life, she immediately picked the 88 cut. Her words confirmed what Ty already knew...the 88 Cut was perfect for Andi. Now it is my turn. I sketched a design that was organic, floral, and romantic, with movement in the design and imbued with both Ty and Andi. I emailed my sketch to Ty so we could go over it together. He said yes, ready to have the ring and hear Andi say the same. Then I started making the ring. Ty planned a beautiful surprise proposal. As soon as the ring was done, I shipped it to the event planner for the special day. I was thrilled when Ty sent me an email with a few images of the engagement--a beautiful beginning to another chapter in their love story. A relationship begins, a ring begins, a life begins.
