One afternoon, as I was immersed in designing my new men's online jewelry collection, I received a phone call from Forbes and Fortune magazines. They were curating a special section celebrating the most extraordinary women in Boston and the companies they represent. To my surprise and delight, they had selected to feature me as an individual and as a company to represent the fine jewelry industry in the greater Boston area.
After a few email exchanges, I learned that this feature would be a full-page spread in the annual "Forbes 400" and "Fortune 100" issue. The news was both thrilling and humbling. Without a moment's hesitation, I embraced this extraordinary opportunity and eagerly accepted an invitation for a phone interview.
The interview was scheduled soon after, and I was joined by the interviewer and their copywriter. Their warm and welcoming demeanor immediately put me at ease. We delved into my life as a private jewelry designer and explored the fascinating journey of Cynthia Britt Custom Jewelry as a company. It was a delightful experience, allowing me to reflect on my life story, from my academic pursuits in computer engineering followed by my passion for designing and creating fine jewelry.
During the interview, we also explored my custom jewelry process, a journey of turning dreams into reality. When clients come to me, they're looking for a piece that's as unique as they are. I begin by carefully examining their physical attributes (such as hand structure for engagement rings and wedding bands) and their personal styles. This information inspires a design in my head that I then translate into a sketch and ultimately a piece of custom jewelry. From all over the world, I source and curate a selection of diamonds/gemstones for my customer to choose from. The selection is all according to my customer's criteria and the design I have envisioned. It's a fun and personal process.
We wrapped up the interview by discussing my latest venture: a Ready-to-Order Men's Wedding Band line! I'm incredibly passionate about men's jewelry and have been working on this collection for quite some time. Throughout the years, as I have created men's rings, from the feedback I have gotten, I have realized there is a void for easy access to elegant, interesting and comfortable men's rings. My goal is to fill this void by offering my most popular designs for online purchase. In keeping with my custom made tradition, there is an online option to customize each model. I'm thrilled to finally unveil these popular designs, which cater to diverse styles and hand structures. Stay tuned for more designs and the upcoming launch of the women's line!
