Custom Engagement Ring With An Emerald Cut Diamond For Lauren

Lauren's fiancé wanted the perfect ring and the perfect diamond for his surprise engagement proposal to Lauren. He knew Lauren liked an emerald cut diamond and she preferred yellow gold. He showed me a couple of images of Lauren and an image of an engagement ring that Lauren had mentioned she liked. As it is the case with all rings, I first brought in a few diamonds for Lauren's fiancé to choose from. Given the criteria I was working with, I found three beautiful Emerald cut diamonds. Lauren's fiancé has great taste, and a great eye for diamonds. From the three choices, he picked out the most perfect and most expensive diamond. What you should know when picking out an emerald cut diamond: Emerald cut diamonds show inclusions easily, so they need to be graded VS clarity. Very rarely I come across SI graded diamonds that don't show the internal inclusion without the aid of a magnifying loop, but they do exist. Emerald cut diamonds don't show color as much as brilliant cut diamonds do. Given your budget and the clarity criteria, the choice between color and carat weight is up to personal preference. One criteria that I don't sacrifice when picking out diamonds is the cut. A beautiful, classic Emerald cut diamond will have a length to width ratio of 1.4. Once the ratio gets close to 1.5, then the diamond looks too narrow and long. If the ratio gets too close to 1.3, then the diamond looks wide and square. In either case, the diamond won't have the brilliance and sparkle as it would if it was cut with perfect proportions. Once Lauren's diamond was chosen, I sketched a design that I felt would capture Lauren's elegant and timeless style and complement the perfect diamond that her fiancé had chosen.
